Miracles of Healthy Food by Jasberry™ Rice

Siam Organic celebrated the wholesome goodness of organic, whole-grain Jasberry rice with a launch party at Sofitel So Bangkok.

While the name Jasberry certainly rolls off your tongue like the smooth-sounding name that it is, you may be wondering what exactly berries have to do with Jasmine rice? According to grower and supplier Siam Organic, the name Jasberry reflects the rice’s wonderful properties which are a combination of the incredible taste of Thai jasmine rice and the same antioxidant benefits of berry fruits. The deep purple colour of Jasberry rice also matches quite nicely with its name. And purple also happened to be the colour code of the evening with guests dressed in purple, drinking purple Jasberry drinks, and eating purple Jasberry-infused dishes!

Celebrity chefs from Health and Cuisine magazine showed us a number of ways to cook and enjoy Jasberry rice, which is naturally soft, aromatic and packed with nutrients, antioxidants and fibre. Of all the dishes showcased, the Jasberry Taro Ball creation caught my eye because of the adorable presentation that made each piece look like lollipops. The talented chefs of Sofitel So Bangkok also presented their innovative dishes created with Jasberry rice. Although the savoury ‘Spanish-Style Grandma Stuffed Mussels and Jasberry Rice’ tasted distinctly Indian rather than Spanish, it was still one of our favourites. We never imagined it was possible, but the chefs created the ultimate guilt-free dessert by puréeing Jasberry rice into ice cream and giving the appropriate name of Jasberry Rice Cream — of course. We’re not ashamed to say we had more than a few spoonfuls.

High-antioxidant Jasberry rice by Siam Organic is now available in all Villa Supermarkets across Thailand, including 18 stores in Bangkok and one each in Pattaya, Hua Hin and Phuket.
