Tle visits another coffee shop in Chiang Mai and gives it his absolute seal of approval.
Over the past few years, the number of coffee shops in Chiang Mai has grown by leaps and bounds. There are so many now the number of cafés is comparable to the number of 7Elevens in Bangkok. The coffee shops come in all sizes, from small stands to spacious two-level shops. And the increased competition has meant improved coffee quality and better among skills among Chiang Mai’s baristas.
Among all the newfound choice, I think I have finally found my perfect cup of coffee in Chiang Mai. Ristr8to2 is currently the hottest coffee place in Chiang Mai. They offer at least eight bean varieties and can create some beautiful latte art, so customers keep coming back for more. The owner (also a barista) perfected his latte skills in Australia and has won many coffee and latte art competitions.
During my visit to Chiang Mai I repeatedly visited Ristr8to2 (the name is confounding, but apparently the shop’s is actually called Doppio Ristretto). The coffee here is really great and if you’re at a loss for what to order, the staff can recommend drinks and dishes to your liking. All hot drinks come with beautiful latte art and if you order ‘muggacino’, the owner will come right to your table to perform the latte art for you. Affogato comes with two large scoops of ice cream. The’ is even a cheese-flavoured ice cream and, believe it or not, it’s actually pretty delicious.
A cup of coffee starts at 88 baht.
Ristr8tto2 is located in Nimmanhemin Road Soi 3, right at the mouth of the soi.
