Instead of the usual dress code that requires guests to get all glammed up, a recent party asked us all to dress down! We’re talking T-shirts and jeans and, believe it or not, non-high-heeled comfortable shoes. Not the usual attire for a night out in Bangkok.
Rave & Glow and Vans SK8 Off The Walls Party created a party scene where girls and guys could really let loose and have fun. Leave the high heels at home they said, and slip into some high-top vans sneakers instead!
Well, my friend and I are not exactly the kinds of girls who wear T-shirts even at home, and in our world sneakers are only meant for the gym. The idea of going to a sneaker-themed party was foreign to us, two girls who don't even own a pair of Vans to begin with. So, we decided to stick to the high-heels we’re used to and headed off to Demo anyway!
As usual, the walls of Demo were covered in graffiti art. So were the guests. After we had a few swigs of Bacardi, their tattooed bodies seemed to blend into the art-splashed walls. It felt like the walls were alive, but that probably had something to do with the LED lights, which created a three-dimensional vibe to the artwork as the neon laser beams flitted across the walls.
After a few hours of dancing amongst our more casually dressed peers, we decided a lesson had been learnt that night. When attending a Vans party, do as the Vans fans do and get a pair of those forgiving shoes because at the end of the night, you'll be wishing you had worn some cute high-tops instead of high heels!
