A graduate of Chulalongkorn University and the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, Wiriya Sungkhaniyom has worked for a number of Thai and English publications as a reporter, writer and editor and now works from home as a freelance translator and sometimes-journalist. She also writes fan-fiction for a number of manga communities, just for fun. As someone who Googles for a living, she has seen both the positive and negative sides of the World Wide Web but still believes in its potential as a learning source, and hopes to build a little place online where young Thais with a love for learning can find out about things that interest them.

Although she has lived in Bangkok since 1987, she is still a country girl at heart and often gets lost in the city’s fascinating, older neighbourhoods — her favourites being the area around the Grand Palace, Chinatown and Little India. She also finds boat rides on the Chao Phraya exhilarating and one of the best ways to explore the city’s calmer side. Her favourite city besides Bangkok is Chiang Mai, where life is slower and food is awesome.
